An Instinct For Melody

Music is my creative motivation. As a teenager I started turning melodies, stories and emotions into song ideas. Every lyric I write, every melody I craft, comes from a random spark; no templates or conjuring up an idea, only raw inspiration.

 

But Songwriters are supposed to perform, yes?

From the start, my goal was not to perform, but to achieve a finished recording that makes me go, YES! And then share those songs with you. Rather than honing my musical performance skills, I worked on the skill of crafting a song and learning the studio tools required to deliver a properly mixed and mastered song.

 

Technology Turns Music Inside Out Every 10 years

Over the years, I adapted to the evolutions in technology. I am so pleased that in my lifetime I have been able to record my voice and other instruments into an assembled piece of music. And then take my finished, recording and find the right voice and instrument performers to finish each song in the style that I hear in my head.

 

In my search to fit a performer to a song, I have discovered the timbre of the female voice often is the better fit for many of my arrangements. The variety of wonderful voices and instruments you hear in my recordings; I have affectionately named The Crossing Crew in homage to the infamous Wrecking Crew.

 

My Mission

Creating music has improved the way I connect with the world. The message in my music is as much for me as anyone. Whether one or a million hear my songs, music is my passion and words of hope, faith, and kindness are my mission. ​

 

My Best Song?

Different songs and styles are unique to a person at any point in time. Some songs stick with me and never let go. ​"Love is like that" is a piece of wisdom that seems fresh with each listen. Songs like "A Big Song for Little People" and "Yellow Rose" move me every time I hear them.

 

My hope is a song or two will make someone's day a little better than it was 3 minutes ago.
